Nina Wiberg Rosenquist created Bioli in 2021 out of a need to establish a responsible, scientifically-tested routine. Approaching her thirties, the entrepreneur faced skin problems for the first time in her life. This became her battle cry and the foundation of her sustainable brand, beautifully named Bioli, an abbreviation of "biological." Of Danish origin, Nina Wiberg Rosenquist possesses a vision of beauty in line with her home country's values. On the occasion of Bioli's French launch at The Care, she shares the story of its creation, with some bonus beauty tips! An interview.
Science at the heart of the project
"From the beginning, I teamed up with leading scientists in biotechnology to ensure that Bioli is based on solid knowledge and innovation," Nina explains. Bioli stems primarily from extensive research into enzymes, a gentler alternative to vitamins and acids. While working in biotechnology, Nina discovered that these proteins are a true goldmine – powerful yet gentle, and also more sustainable to produce. The story continued in a laboratory alongside passionate individuals, as Nina explains: "Very quickly, I realized I had to develop enzyme-based skincare, and why not extend this approach to everything, choosing ingredients suitable for sensitive skin and packaging with the least possible impact." A perfect combination of sustainability and innovation, Bioli is dedicated to creating a more responsible future for beauty. After several versions, nine in total, the first product was born: the Hydrating and Protective Day Cream.
Sustainability is reflected in the packaging itself, which is completely compostable. "Our jars are made from fermented microorganisms and fully decompose within 52 weeks in a home compost. They are delivered in FSC-certified paper bags," Nina details. This commitment demonstrates a relationship of trust between the brand and its customers. Bioli aims to lead by example with transparency, both in the composition of its day cream and in its container. The creator even calls this lifestyle the "Biomovement," which could be translated as "bio movement" in English.

Bioli launched its first product a few months ago, a Hydrating and Protective Day Cream, developed using BioProtect technology. Its formula is based on an exclusive enzyme technology capable of neutralizing environmental stressors, including free radicals, responsible for skin aging. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe and calm the skin. "Unlike plant-derived antioxidants such as green tea or petrochemical-derived vitamins C and E, BioProtect, born from biotechnology, is gentler on sensitive skin, requires much less water, energy, and CO₂ to produce. It helps preserve agricultural land for food rather than for cosmetic ingredients," Nina explains. A commitment to personal and collective well-being.
In an increasingly competitive clean beauty landscape, Bioli stands out with a committed process from start to finish, as Nina explains: "Bioli looks at the whole picture: before, during, and after use, as well as inside and out. We think carefully about how ingredients are developed, how they act on sensitive skin, and their effects after use." Added to this is great attention to packaging, a major scourge of the cosmetics industry (55,000 tons of plastic thrown away per year). "At Bioli, we strive to meet and exceed regulations, and we want to prove that high-quality formulas, good design, and sustainability can truly coexist," adds the founder. Bioli in three words? Biotechnology, biodegradable, bioconscious. As Nina explains, the last one is a neologism: "This last concept is our own creation. It's about listening to your body while leading a conscious life and making thoughtful choices."

A committed story
If someone had told her she would one day work in the beauty sector, Nina Wiberg Rosenquist would surely have found it amusing. "When I was younger, I played a lot of sports, never wore makeup, and barely used any skincare products," she explains. After studying communication and economics, she got her first job at the Danish company Novonesis, the world's largest enzyme supplier. A first experience that would nurture her future project. In 2021, she conceived Bioli in response to her skin problems and developed the outlines of a brand she wanted rooted in the ecological concerns of her time.
Driven by a desire to innovate and share her personal experience with as many people as possible, Nina delved into the complexity of formulations to produce a cutting-edge range suitable for all skin types. "It motivated me to create something sustainable and science-based. So I wouldn't say I chose beauty; rather, I felt I had the necessary knowledge and therefore the responsibility to share what I had learned," she explains. Of Danish origin, she also cultivated an education that taught her respect for ecosystems. "There are strong initiatives in Denmark in the fields of food, beverages, and energy, but this awareness is lacking in skincare."
Nina Wiberg Rosenquist has multiple projects in mind for Bioli, including new products coming in 2026: "We are working hard and are very excited to launch two new products next year: an all-in-one cleanser and exfoliant and an ultra-powerful bioactive serum. Both products are currently being tested by large panels to ensure they are hypoallergenic and suitable for fragile skin."

Nina Wiberg Rosenquist's beauty routine
At The Care, we love to learn more about the beauty routines of our creators. Nina Wiberg Rosenquist focuses on simple but effective rituals that align with her fast-paced lifestyle. After cleansing her face, she applies a Bioli protective and hydrating day cream to still-damp skin to facilitate application. "Then, I always apply sunscreen (P20, fragrance-free, which lasts eight hours). Even if I don't go out much, I use SPF daily because of my acne scars and melasma. Through my research with Bioli, I learned a lot about skin cancer, which is why protection is essential for me, both with an SPF and a cream rich in antioxidants as an additional line of defense," she explains. She uses a few drops of serum only when her skin needs it, for example, in summer.
In the evening, Nina removes her makeup with a gentle milk, dries her face with an Egyptian cotton washcloth, and reapplies the Bioli day cream. To prepare for the night, the entrepreneur shares a joyful hair anecdote: "At night, I tie my hair in a bun so it doesn't touch my face while I sleep, which also helps because I produce a lot of sebum on my scalp. My children and husband always make fun of me in the morning with my messy bun."
In her own definition of beauty and well-being, Nina emphasizes skin health. "What I really like is skincare that is simple, effective, and brings peace of mind. That's also why I like being part of The Care: it's a source I trust to have selected the best," she confides. A partnership we can't wait for you to discover!
